Iran’s Supreme Leader Calls for High Turnout in Crucial March Elections
Tehran: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei urged a high voter turnout in the upcoming March 1 parliamentary and Assembly of Experts elections during a meeting in Tehran.
Emphasizing the elections as crucial for the Islamic Republic’s reforms, Khamenei encouraged widespread participation, stating it as the correct method for problem-solving.
The 12th parliamentary elections will see 14,912 candidates after vetting, with the 290-seat parliament holding legislative authority. Simultaneously, 144 candidates vie for the 88-member Assembly of Experts, responsible for appointing the Supreme Leader. The elections are deemed essential for the country’s political trajectory and governance.
